Hello and welcome! I’m Rosie and it’s wonderful to “meet” you!

As a therapist, I am deeply interested in the complexity of psychology, the overlap between our identities and the ways that we interact with the world, and the unique paths we all take towards healing and self-growth.  From this mindset, I bring a gentle and compassionate approach to therapy, assisting you with challenging thoughts and behaviors when appropriate while providing a safe and trauma-informed space to process.  I understand that each person is unique, and while I use interventions from various therapeutic approaches like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing, I will work with you to find an effective approach based on your needs.  Sometimes using words and talking about something can be difficult, and I am happy to incorporate expressive arts and somatic techniques into our sessions if that works better for you!  Additionally, should nature and plants be particularly healing for you, I am happy to bring horticultural therapy techniques into our work.

I am here to walk with you on your path, assisting you in navigating whatever challenges you are facing.  Sometimes this may be learning how to recover from burnout, cope with overwhelm, or overcome anxiety.  Perhaps you are facing a major life change, or dealing with loss and grief.  Through my work, I’ve come to develop specialties in working with teens and adults with autism, ADHD, disability, PTSD, bipolar I & II, chronic illness, depression, and anxiety.  I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome people of all backgrounds.  We all come to therapy from different stages of life, and it is never too late to start!

As far as my training goes, I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Addictions Counseling in 2021.  During my internship, I worked with CareNet Counseling of Wilkes and once I graduated I transitioned into work as an outpatient therapist.  Additionally, I received a certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in May of 2024.  I also have led horticultural therapy groups for women in recovery, older adults with dementia, and teens with disabilities, along with mindfulness meditation groups.

When not in the office, I can usually be found geeking out over tea, hiking with my partner, hanging out with my cat Cornbread, reading, skating or dancing.  I enjoy writing and drawing, and am currently very into origami.
