They / Them / Theirs

Welcome!

I’m glad you are here. Seeking out therapy for yourself or your child can feel like a daunting step, especially when you’re already at the point where you’ve realized that you can’t just deal with everything on your own, when the well-meaning advice of friends and family is no longer cutting it, or you don’t even know exactly what would be helpful yet, despite all your efforts to problem-solve and “fix” whatever issue has brought you here. Therapy is a space to explore and uncover our inner lives, from our deepest anxieties to our untapped capacities, through the power of relationship, talking, and play.

I am able to help with a variety of challenges and concerns, including depression, anxiety, complex trauma, neurodivergence, and gender/sexual identity exploration, but these labels are just umbrella terms that are totally insufficient to capture the particular nuances of someone’s story, and the path you may have taken here. Perhaps you are just stepping into adulthood and finally have the freedom to figure out who you are and what you want, without anyone pushing their agenda on you. Maybe the ups and downs of a relationship have led to old pain resurfacing, or a newly discovered piece of your identity is forcing you to shift your life and face the unknown. Perhaps you are realizing you need to build up your child or teen’s village so that they can get the support they need to do the important work of becoming themselves.

Whatever concern brings you or your family to therapy, my goal is to facilitate an individualized process without imposed or pre-packaged solutions, so that my clients can live more freely and fully. My role is to be a guide, holding the map and compass, and assisting through hardships on whatever path feels right for you.

I love supporting individuals who wish to know themselves better and to figure out new ways of being in their relationships and in the world. My goal is to create a space where anything and everything can be explored, and new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating can be experimented with. With adults and teens, I do this primarily with relationally-based talk therapy approaches, and with children I draw from play therapy approaches and work closely with parents and families as a team to collaboratively address their challenges.

If you’d like to know more about my training and credentials, I am a licensed clinical social worker associate, and I graduated from Western Carolina University’s Masters of Social Work program with a certificate in addiction studies. Prior to that, I earned a BA in English and Slavic Studies from Brown University. I have enjoyed internship and work experiences in a college counseling center, at a middle school, and as an ACT team therapist. I’m committed to my continued learning and growth, through ongoing training, supervision and my own therapy.

My clinical areas of interest include facilitating gender-affirming and LGBTQ+ celebratory care, psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed care, Autism and ADHD, and a harm reduction-inclusive approach to substance use concerns.

If you are ready to work with a therapist that will provide a space for you to better know yourself, recognize and break old patterns, and build a life that feels like it’s your own, I would love to help and I look forward to meeting you!
