Hello and Welcome! My name is Callie and I am thrilled that you are taking this big (and maybe even a little scary) step in supporting your child’s mental health! I understand that it can feel both exciting and intimidating.
Children don’t always have the tools and words to express their thoughts and emotions which can sometimes lead to behavioral changes such as emotional outbursts and withdrawing from things they used to be interested in. This can be confusing and even frustrating for parents and caregivers as they try to navigate these big feelings.
As a therapist, I will meet you and your child exactly where you are, and provide support in a way that feels non-judgemental and collaborative. I firmly believe that we are the experts of our own lives, and as parents and caregivers, you are the experts on your children. With a person-centered approach, I tailor each therapy session to address the unique needs, goals, and desires of my clients.
My therapeutic approach encompasses emotional regulation and mindfulness practices, empowering your child to develop essential coping skills. I also strive to equip parents and caregivers with practical techniques that can be implemented at home, ensuring a holistic and supportive environment for your child’s growth.
I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and am passionate about working with and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. My practice is affirming of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and I am dedicated to creating a safe space where individuals can freely express their authentic selves. I am also committed to continuous learning and practicing anti-racism, integrating these principles into my therapeutic approach and everyday life.
Outside of being a therapist, you can find me gardening, watching scary movies, reading, exploring the beautiful Asheville area with my partner, and cuddling with my cat! I am originally from Greensboro, NC and have lived in various parts of the state before making a home here in Asheville.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and I received my Masters in Social Work from North Carolina State University. Before joining the Flourish team I worked as a school social worker in the public school system for four years and then worked as a Care Coordinator assisting members of the LGBTQIA+ community in finding support and resources.
If you are interested, I would be honored to embark on this transformative journey with you and your child, empowering them to thrive in their emotional well-being. Together, we can create a positive and nurturing environment for growth and healing.
